May 24, 2022: We've updated our page with some important bits of information we've found about the game.

The long-awaited next instalment in the Ghibli-inspired series Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds is nearly here, and it is taking a different approach to the gameplay than previous titles as a mobile game with some gacha elements.

The first two Ni No Kuni games were console releases - Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch, and Ni No Kuni II: The Revenant Kingdom made waves with their delightful art, fun adventures, and emotional stories.

Cross Worlds promises more of the same with some different twists that build upon previous lore and mechanics. We will keep this page updated with what we discover about Netmarble’s latest title, including more details on the early summer 2022 release date, gameplay, and any interesting trivia.

While we wait for the game to release, we suggest having a go with Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact, or another of Netmarble’s games; Seven Deadly Sins Grand Cross.

Following an initially vague Summer 2022 launch time, the Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds release date is now set for May 25, 2022.

The publisher specificed that as a PDT release timeframe, so it could tick into the following day for areas like Europe. The time the servers will let players in wasn't revealed.

The global launch follows a beta test that opened in September 2021 in Japan, Thailand and South Korea for the virtual game ‘Soul Divers’ - the game within Cross Worlds. Confused? We’ll explain it, don’t worry.

The beta received positive reviews, which is always good. A few streamers and members of the press recently went hands-on as well, sharing similar sentiments.

The time for pre-registering has now passed, and players who signed up are eligible for pre-download of the game.

Is Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds On PC?

The game is confirmed for iOS and Android, but Netmarble have said that Ni No Kuni will be on PC via a client. As of yet, we don't know what this is or have a link. What we do know is that it is well-optimized, and runs well.

One thing to note is that you'll need to play the game on mobile first, and clear the tutorial, in order to log in and create an account with Netmarble. This will be used to log in on the PC client. The same goes for any emulator you plan on using.

Does Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds Have Controller Support?

At the moment, the PC client does not support controllers, so players will need to use a keyboard and mouse. Hopefully, support will be added.

What Is Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds?

Netmarble, makers of Marvel Future Revolution and Level 5, known for Professor Layton, Yokai Watch, and of course other Ni No Kuni games, have come together to bring Ni No Kuni to mobile. It isn't the first time the franchise has been on phones, but it's the first time a phone version has made it into the West.

Though this title isn’t tied directly to Ghibli, the first game (Wrath of the White Witch) was produced by the studio, so the franchise kept the same themes and styles. By the way, esteemed Studio Ghibli composer Joe Hisaishi, best known for Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away, has done a wonderful soundtrack for the game!

Cross Worlds appears to change the combat and gameplay formulas a little more, like the changes between the first two titles - including multiplayer modes focused on online play. It's more of an MMO than Genshin Impact ended up being, but the finer details are still a little hazy.

What Do We Know About Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds So Far?

Now it's time for the nitty-gritty. There is quite a lot of information out there for Cross Worlds so far, so let's break it down.

Is Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds PVP?

This time, though, there are a few PVP modes for you to get your teeth into. Relic Wars, a PVP faction war, has players capturing territory amongst each other in real-time. There’s also Team Arena, where players aim to collect the most Higgledy familiars in a limited time.

Kingdom Invasion is what we’re looking forward to most - big battles between players' kingdoms’, which determine a winner. The ultimate winner becomes the Capital of the server and can enact policies that affect every player. This could go either way, and we’re excited.

What's the Ni No Kuni: Cross World Story?

The plot for Cross Worlds seems convoluted, but let us explain it:

The Ni No Kuni world exists on a different plane than the real world seen in Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch when Oliver crosses over to the linked world. The new game is set in the same worlds as Wrath of The White Witch, but doesn’t feature many of the same characters. Drippy has been confirmed to return, though!

Through the story chapters listed on the official Cross Worlds site, it's shown that players initially control the Swordsman, a young man who beta tests the virtual reality game Soul Divers.

After arriving in the ‘virtual’ world, he is given a quest. Turns out, the world isn’t virtual at all and is in grave danger. This is where the magical and fantasy elements come in as you form your party and traverse the land in order to save both dimensions from certain doom.

The official website reveals some of the locations featured in the game, too. There will be a Kingdom base for each player, which is customizable in some ways, but the true adventure awaits in whimsical areas away from home.

There’s a frozen tundra of Winter Wonderland, a creepy forest area known only as Witch's Woods, an aptly titled Burning Desert region, and a lovely meadowy known as The Golden Grove with run-down architecture and a rudimentary settlement.

Will There Be Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds Codes?

Judging by other Netmarble titles, it is very likely that we will see some codes coming out for Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds. So far there is no news, but we assume that codes will provide upgrade materials, equipment or even weapons and pets, possibly around events or new story updates in the game.

We will keep this page updated when any more codes do come out.

What Is The Gacha System In Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds?

There are three different gacha systems in Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds; one for Familiars, one for weapons, and one for costumes.

For instance, there is currently a New Player Exclusive Summon for anyone picked for the preview, which gives ten familiars. The rarity of the ten is fixed: one four-star, three three-stars, and six two-star rarity. The familiars change, but the rarity does not. We don't know if this banner will be available as of launch on May 25.

When pulling for weapons, make sure you have the right character equipped for the choice you want. If you want bows, you need to be pulling as the Rogue, and so on.
