It should come as no surprise that the Nintendo Switch 2 is a massive success, selling over 5 million units since its release. While the console itself has proven that it's something people would want to get their hands on, one has to wonder if the same sentiments can be said about its enhanced version of games.

These are titles for the original Nintendo Switch that were given upgrades to perform better and utilize features exclusive to the next-generation system. As great as that sounds, some fans are divided on whether it's worth getting the enhanced version of games made for a previous console. For those who are part of that undecided crowd, there are a few things to consider that may help make the decision.

Games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and Super Mario Party Jamboree already provide breathtaking and enjoyable experiences even before they received their upgrade. Their Switch 2 editions certainly improve them in ways that make them feel as if they were meant to be enjoyed on the next-generation system, but they're only worth getting if one has never played them before.

For those who have already had their fill of these games on the original Nintendo Switch, they'll likely find that the additions provided in the upgraded editions might be of little value to them. While the integration of things like GameChat and third-party apps or hardware for bonus content results in noticeable improvements to the gameplay experience, they aren't needed, especially since the original versions of each title already offer more than enough.

Some may argue that what truly makes these enhanced editions worth getting is their improved performance on the Nintendo Switch 2, as purchasing them means better load times, frame rate, and more. However, it feels as if such benefits should come with the system rather than something that still needs to be purchased.

People have already paid for these games before, and now they've spent quite an amount to play them on the next-generation console. It would be fair to think that they would be entitled to the performance and graphical upgrades of the Nintendo Switch 2, and it's understandable not wanting to spend an extra 10 dollars or more for something that should be available from the start.

Again, the enhanced editions only feel truly worth it for those who have never played any of the games before, as it cannot be denied that the bonus features, extra content, and performance improvements add more layers of fun and enjoyment. However, it's hard to justify spending on them unless it's to provide someone with the best possible first experience.

Ultimately, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of games doesn't feel worthwhile, especially since the upgrades to them can be perceived as something that should come with the purchase of the next-generation console. This is especially true for those who have already experienced them pre-upgrade, but they can still find some value from the graphical and performance improvements, so long as they're willing to pay the extra cost.
