The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom showcased how Princess Zelda can hold her own should a massive disaster fall upon Hyrule and Link is nowhere to be found.

Armed with a Tri-Rod and accompanied by the fairy Tri, Princess Zelda went on to defeat different evils plaguing the kingdom in Echoes of Wisdom.

The Hyrule version of this game does not have the legendary Hero, which many games such as The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker celebrate as part of the kingdom's legend.

If you are wondering why, Nintendo just gave us the answer: Echoes of Wisdom falls under the Decline Timeline, where the Hero of Time fails to defeat Ganon.

Later down the line, Hyrule went on to become a small kingdom plagued with the reign of Ganon through the previous games. Princess Zelda was saving a kingdom that resulted from the return of Ganon.

Echoes of Wisdom wonderfully crafted the kingdom of Hyrule with the same visuals and charm that the Link's Awakening Remake had, which makes sense given that both games are in the same timeline.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom falls between Tri-Force Heroes and The Legend Of Zelda I, concluding the final events of the Decline Timeline.

The Decline Timeline is one of the three timelines that resulted from the events of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Along with the Child Timeline and Adult Timeline, Nintendo added the Decline Timeline to the series' official timeline of events published in the book Hyrule Historia.

The Decline Timeline has different versions of Link and Zelda but these timelines are not related to the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. These two major Switch titles are on their own unknown timeline that is still to be confirmed by Nintendo.
