Gepard in Honkai Star Rail.
February 2, 2024: We've updated our Gepard build guide for Honkai Star Rail.

You may be looking for a Honkai Star Rail Gepard build if you want to play one of the game's best characters, Gepard is the poster child of the Ice element in Honkai Star Rail, with excellent DPS output by sacrificing his HP. He is a great unit even if you do not get his best-in-slot Light Cone or other 5-star support characters.

Depending on how comfortable you are with his HP loss mechanic, you can choose to fine-tune his build. Inexperienced players can rely on more defensive stats to boost Gepard’s survivability, while others turn him into a glass cannon once they have a grasp of the game mechanics. This makes him both a great beginner choice and a solid pick for though who know how to use him.

The best Honkai Star Rail Gepard build

The following build is for Gepard. You can find more Honkai Star Rail builds on our dedicated hub page.

Best Light Cone for Gepard

Building Gepard involves maximising his Ice damage, and you want to get the Moment of Victory Light Cone for him. If you are not looking to summon for five-star Light Cones and want to focus on getting more characters instead, you can consider the Day One of My New Life Light Cone instead, which is a four-star alternative.

Moment of Victory: Increases the wearer's DEF by 20% and Effect Hit Rate by 20% when attacking. Increases chance to be attacked by enemies. When the wearer is attacked, increases DEF by an extra 20% until the end of the wearer's turn.

Day One of My New Life: Increases wearer's DEF by 16% and increases DMG RES of all allies by 8%. Effects of the same type cannot stack.

If you do not have either of these Light Cones, any Light Cone that alights with the path of Preservation will do until you get access to stronger Light Cones.

Best relics for Gepard

There are multiple relic options available for Gepard. If you are comfortable with the game mechanics and feel like you are willing to dance with death, the Hunter of Glacial Forest is a great option that sacrifices defence for an all-out offensive package.

If you want to play it safe and want to boost Gepard’s defensive stats to keep him alive when his HP is low, the Guard of Wuthering Snow or the Knight of Purity Palace are solid options.

Knight of Purity Palace

  • 2-Piece Bonus: Increases DEF by 12%.
  • 4-Piece Bonus: Increases the max DMG that can be absorbed by the shield created by the wearer by 20%.

Guard of Wuthering Snow

  • 2-Piece Bonus: Reduces DMG taken by 8%.
  • 4-Piece Bonus: At the beginning of the turn, if the wearer's HP is equal to or less than 50% of their Max HP, restores HP equal to 8% of their Max HP and regenerates 5 Energy.

Hunter of Glacial Forest

  • 2-Piece Bonus: Increases Ice DMG by 10%.
  • 4-Piece Bonus: After the wearer unleashes their Ultimate, their CRIT DMG increases by 25% for two turn(s).

Relic farming is not recommended in the early game, and you should wait for your drop rates to get better as your Trailblaze level increases. You can use lower-rarity relics until you gain access to 4-star and 5-star variants of our recommended relics.

What are Gepard’s abilities?

Loading...

Gepard is capable of dealing massive damage despite being a tank, and he is well worth the resource investment. If you pair him with a couple of supports and an on-field DPS character, you should have no trouble clearing content.

Level 6When his Talent is triggered, Gepard’s action is Advanced Forward by 100%, and he restores extra HP equal to 50% of his Max HP.

Eidolons allow you to boost the power of a character by obtaining extra copies. While some of the Eidolon upgrades for Gepard look incredible on paper, trying to obtain them can drain your Stellar Jade reserves. We do not recommend going for Eidolons unless you already have a large roster of characters and their Light Cone.
