Path of Exile 2's early access finally begins on December 6, with PC players able to pre-download the game starting Thursday, December 5. This gives players ample time to complete downloads and apply patch updates before diving into the free-to-play RPG.

Grinding Gear Games recently announced that the standalone PC client will be available for download on December 5 at 5 PM PST or December 6 at 9 AM GMT+8. For Xbox, the pre-download is already available but players will have to expect several updates before the early access.

While the game itself is free to play, PS5 players will have to purchase founder packs that will be available before the early access for them to be able to pre-download on the Sony console.

Aside from the standalone PC client on the Path of Exile 2 website, PC players can also download the early-access client via torrent on the same day.

Fans on Reddit are happy about this communication and the given timeframe. In a post on the game's subreddit, players are jokingly saying that even if they're in the most remote place in space, they'll still be able to download Path of Exile due to the availability of the standalone client.

One Redditor in the thread even mentioned that getting what they want in a game that they love feels surprising, indicating how the recent gaming events in 2024 have been less than stellar.

Featuring a new skill system that includes 240 active skill gems and 12 character classes, Path of Exile 2 brings a six-act storyline before letting players enjoy its endgame content. Players will be able to play the following classes during the early access:

  • Warrior
  • Monk
  • Mercenary
  • Sorceress
  • Witch
  • Ranger

Path of Exile will also feature three ascendancy classes per base class, so players will have tons of choices when deciding their characters and build.
