Marking what seems to be a Christmas tradition at this point, Kyurem is back in Pokemon GO raids this December, and we've updated our best Pokemon GO Kyurem counters list to match. If you're looking to bag the shiny, or just want a Kyurem with Glaciate, here's who you'll want to bring for the job.
Taking on any five-star Pokemon GO raid means catching and training a stack of six or more prime counters. Though there are plenty meta picks out there for taking on legendary Dragon-type Pokemon, this icy hybrid doesn't much care for them, instead demanding a party of its own.
For more on Pokemon GO, we always have to recommend our Pokemon GO Arlo, Sierra, and Cliff guides. We updated them any time their teams change, allowing you to close the gap on Giovanni and grab whichever new and powerful legendary Pokemon he's ensnared.

Taking on Kyurem means bringing powerful Pokemon that can hammer its weaknesses. Obviously.
In the case of this one, staple and bulky brawlers apply; like Lucario, Rhyperior, and Conkeldurr, with others like Machamp working with similar movesets. Many of these can Mega Evolve, which can really help turn the tide in your favour.
If you have access to a few legendary Pokemon previous raids, Latias, Latios, and Terrakion can really pitch in, too.
Is Glaciate good?
It's a little too early to say, but we can imagine Kyurem's new Glaciate attack will be one of the more powerful Ice-type hits you can deal.
Given it can already learn Blizzard, though, don't expect this version of the Pokemon to be substantially better than the last for most situations. It's nice, but it's not essential.
What is Kyurem's weakness?
Being an dual Ice and Dragon-type Pokemon, Kyurem isn't weak to the classic dragon killers like Mamoswine, Glaceon, and Ice-Beam Mewtwo. Instead, you need to pelt it with Rock, Fighting, Steel, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves.
Kyurem raid party size
Between two or four well-equipped trainers should be able to take Kyurem on. It suffers from relatively low defense, making it a fairly easy raid to take on with fewer people. So long as they come with the right strategy in mind.
What's the Kyurem max CP value?
If you're looking for a perfect IV Kyurem, you'll want to look out for a CP value of 2042 in average weather or 2553 in advantageous weather like Snow and Wind.
On the lower end, 1791 or 2239 in standard and boosted weather respectively will indicate a minimum IV Kyurem encounter at the end of a battle.
Can Kyurem be shiny in Pokemon GO?
This time around, Shiny Kyruem is available to collect. Like most other five-star legendary raids, you have around a 1/20 chance of encountering Shiny Kyurem if you manage to beat it in the raid battle.
And, as ever, your catch rate will shoot up to 100 percent if you happen to find one. That way you won't need to worry about losing out on a shiny through some unlucky throws. You just need to land one ball to get it.
