Marshadow in Pokemon Go

Though many know it for its cute and colourful creatures, the Pokemon world doesn’t fall short when it comes to those that are a little more eerie and supernatural-looking. In this guide, we’ll show you how to catch Marshadow in Pokemon Go so you can have a new ally that’s equal parts adorable and spooky.

Marshadow is a Fighting/Ghost-type Pokemon that was added to the series in Generation 7. The shadowy Pokemon made its Pokemon Go debut in March 2024.

How to get Marshadow in Pokemon Go

You can get a Marshadow by completing a Special Research questline that is part of Go Fest 2024. You can unlock this Special Research by attending real-life Go Fest events.

These events will take place on the following dates and locations:

  • Sendai, Japan – May 30 to June 2
  • Madrid, Spain – June 14 to June 16
  • New York City – July 5 to July 7
  • Global – July 13 to July 14

Of course, travelling to these places is easier said than done for most Pokemon Go players across the globe. So if you can’t make it to any of these venues, simply purchasing a ticket will also grant you access to the Special Research quest.

This quest is only available for a limited time, so be sure to purchase your ticket while the event is still taking place.

Can Marshadow be shiny in Pokemon Go?

Loading...

Nothing has been confirmed about Marshadow’s shiny form being in Pokemon Go just yet but it’s highly unlikely to be introduced this early on. The shiny version of a Pokemon is usually added to Pokemon Go sometime after it makes its debut in the mobile game.

Add the fact that Marshadow encounters are still tied to the Special Research quests, so even if a shiny version were to be available, it would be extremely rare. So don’t expect to find any shiny Marshadows in the game just yet, but there’s still a chance for Niantic to add it to the game somewhere down the line.
