In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you will join up with the Galaxy Expedition Team to study the various species of Pokémon around the ancient region of Hisui, including new, Hisuian forms. To aid you in battle, you'll need to go about acquiring resources and crafting items rather than shopping for them.
A few of the vital items that need crafting are Potions and Poké Balls. Our traditional Poké Ball is now wooden, and hand-crafted at a workbench in your Base Camp. This is where you'll also report your research to Professor Laventon and expand your Pokédex!
When it comes to crafting in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Poké Balls are a crucial piece of equipment for any Pokémon Trainer to have, with them allowing you to capture new Pokémon and complete missions. In this guide, we explain how to craft a Poké Ball and what materials are needed.
How to Craft Poké Balls
To craft a Poké Ball in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you will first need to collect specific materials while you are exploring the Hisui region; many important materials can be gathered in the Obsidian Fieldlands.
For one standard Poké Ball, you will need to find these materials:
- 1x Apricorn
- 1x Tumblestone
Once you have collected these materials, head to the workbench at your Base Camp and interact with it. You will be presented with the following screen:
Select the Poké Ball and choose how many of them you want to craft. Then, viola. The Poké Balls are all yours. As you will be using a lot of these Poké Balls, we recommend adding them to your 'favourites'. To do this, highlight the Poké Ball while you are on this crafting menu and press 'Y'.

What Is A Poké Ball Used For?
Once you have a Poké Ball, you can use it to capture wild Pokémon. Sometimes, you will be able to sneak up on a species and throw the ball at it to capture it with ease. However, some wild Pokémon will put up a fight, and some of them will even flee, depending on their personalities.
To catch a Pokémon, you can attempt to stealthily throw a Poké Ball at them and hope for the best. If this fails, then you'll have to battle the Pokémon in order to catch it. To initiate battle, throw your Poké Ball at it and choose which of your companions you want to help you. Once the health of the wild Pokémon is low enough, throw another Poké Ball at it to capture it.
When you are on the crafting screen for your Poké Ball, why not take a moment to learn how to craft potions or how to craft smoke bombs too? Also, we have plenty of other guides to help you through Pokémon Legends: Arceus. We have one that walks you through character customisation and another that shows you how to ride Pokémon. Yes, you can ride Pokémon!
