Pokémon Scarlet and Violet - is it Generation Nine?
Ever since the franchise began, different waves of Pokémon have been sorted into generations. The first generation of Pokémon dates back to the first game in 1996, and from then on, some of the major installments in the franchise have typically introduced a new generation. This pattern has created an important question about Scarlet and Violet.
So it appears that yes, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are introducing the ninth generation of Pokémon. This brings an end to the eighth generation, with Pokémon Legends: Arceus being the last title. There are plenty of returning Pokémon that show their faces in the trailers, so you can rest assured knowing that your favourites may make an appearance.
We've only seen a handful of brand new Pokémon, but there are over 100 confirmed sightings of Pokémon from earlier generations that are in the game. Here's our list of all the confirmed Mons!
