Resident Evil 4 VR launched a month ago exclusively for Oculus Quest 2, but several features were missing at the time. While a Meta (then Facebook) representative confirmed it'd be missing Assignment Ada, Mercenaries, and Separate Way, it looks like Mercenaries is coming back.
Spotted by Biohazard Cast, they noticed a trailer for Resident Evil 4 VR was uploaded to Oculus' YouTube channel before being quickly set to private. Within this video, that confirmed Mercenaries mode launches as a free update on Meta Quest 2 in 2022. For the unaware, Oculus is also being rebranded to Meta.

Resident Evil 4 VR's Getting Mercenaries Mode Next Year
Mercenaries is a bonus mode that puts players back into Resi 4's levels, letting you fight off enemy hordes against a timer for high scores. Every Resi 4 included this before the VR port, so it's a welcome return. Thankfully, Biohazard Cast managed to rip a copy of this trailer, which you can watch below.
We had positive thoughts about Resident Evil 4 VR last month, awarding it 4/5. While we believed it's "best approached as an alternative take on this classic" due to the gameplay changes, ultimately it remains an entertaining entry fans should experience.
