Sure, there’s some decent food on offer to the people of Skyrim, especially if you’ve installed any of the many food-based mods which ensure they have access to either Gordon Ramsey-level feasts or a litany of healthy vegan options, but sometimes you can’t beat good old fish and chips.
After all, salmon steak and seared slaughterfish are already considered delicacies across the province, so you’ve got to assume that your favourite NPCs would also love a traditional British takeaway too, right?
This is seemingly the ethos behind a new mod, which brings the viral eating establishment of Binley Mega Chippy to Skyrim.
British Meme Culture Finally Infiltrates the Elder Scrolls Universe
The mod, simply called “Binley Mega Chippy”, is the work of modder TriniGamer10 and adds the titular takeaway into Skyrim.
Located near Fort Greymoor just outside of Whiterun, this version of Binley Mega Chippy is still undergoing a bit of work before it opens to the public, with the lack of an interior or collision mechanics rather impeding the dining experience.
However, count your blessings before you write up a rude google review of the place. At least this version of the infamous eatery isn’t likely to step on you, unlike its Elden Ring mod equivalent, which turns the game’s walking mausoleums into the well-known fish joint.
With that in mind, perhaps the most functional Binley Mega Chippy experience in gaming right now is offered by YouTuber Plumbella’s mod, which adds it into The Sims 4 as a restaurant lot.
Either way, this certainly isn’t the first time that a viral meme has made its way into Skyrim, with the social media ruckus around the Jared Leto film Morbius having led its main character to be brought into Tamriel as a character preset.
Or, on the other hand, if you’re sick of your Skyrim experience being marred by memes, toaDime’s “Divine Punishment for Mention of Arrows in the Knee” mod, which ensures that any guards who mention taking an arrow to the knee are immediately killed by a lightning strike, might be more your style.
