Desperate to experience the same kind of bitter disappointment you felt when you read Bethesda’s announcement that you’ll have to wait until 2023 to get your hands on Starfield again?
Well, on the off chance that is indeed the case, Skyrim’s modding community has you covered.
Thanks to a new mod by JaySerpa, called “Immersive Rejections”, you can add to your roleplaying experience by having your marriage dreams shattered by NPCs who’ll no longer be coerced to the altar.
Skyrim Mod Allows You to Experience Immersive Rejections
The crux of the mod is just that, NPCs you propose to while wearing an amulet of Mara and desperately trying to hide your bad breath can now say no in a variety of inventive ways, with justifications ranging “from ‘I'm not drunk enough’ to ‘Sorry, we're better off as friends’”.
So, no more easy early-game marriages to bank a boatload of cash from your spouse’s store, this time you’ll actually have to earn it!
That said, don’t worry too much if the special someone you’ve got your eye on says no at the first time of asking, as the rejections, while changing based on how much the character likes you and whether they’re actually eligible for marriage, won’t actually affect your relationships with the NPCs
That’s right, the discomfort is all yours!
Then again, with around 100 new lines of fully voiced dialogue being added by the mod, maybe you can look at the bright side and take the opportunity to experience every flavour of denial before eventually getting the approval you want.
Some of these lines are showcased in the video below, so check it out if you want a taste of what the mod offers:
While you might be worried about how you’ll recover from some of those sick burns, one thing you shouldn’t be left having nightmares about is compatibility, with the mod even working alongside another of JaySerpa’s popular mods.
This second mod, called “NPCs Wear Amulets of Mara PLUS”, completely “revamps and improves on the proposal system of vanilla”, just in case the rejections aren’t immersive enough on their own.
So, go away, because I’m not interested, but also make sure to follow us for updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the wacky world of Skyrim modding.
