It seems the leaks forced Insomniac Games to make a tough decision. Sadly, it was announced that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 won't be getting any of the planned DLC.
In a recent PlayStation blog, the confirmation of Spider-Man 2 making its way to PC this upcoming January 30 was overshadowed by confirmation that the game won't be getting additional content.
The news has hit like a truck to fans hoping to see some of the threads teased by the main game explored with extra content. While not diving into specifics to avoid spoilers, a side quest practically sets up one of the most popular villains in the Spider-Man universe. Now, we may not see that story come to fruition.
It's unconfirmed, but the massive Insomniac leak is to blame. Among the information that was hacked, plans for additional content included a Spider-Verse-themed expansion and two more with focus on the Beetle and Carnage respectively.
click to enlargeThe decision to not have DLC for such a major title doesn't make sense either. Take for instance the first title released in 2018, it had three DLC content drops that expanded upon characters and storylines teased in the mainline game.
There are potential plans for a standalone Venom spin-off title similar to 2020's Miles Morales Spider-Man, although nothing has been confirmed at this point in time. Hopefully, some of the leaked scrapped DLC will be incorporated into a future title featuring the symbiote.

What we do know about Insomniac's plans is that a third game to conclude the Peter and Miles trilogy is more than guaranteed, with the team also working on a Wolverine title at the same time.
It's a lot on the studio's plate but they've consistently hit it out of the park in recent years and there's no reason to believe that's changing anytime soon.
