Spider-Man: No Way Home Becomes the Sixth Highest Grossing Movie Ever

In its sixth week of release, Spider-Man: No Way Home is now the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time, dethroning The Lion King (2019) and Jurassic World.

The sequel has accumulated $721 million at the domestic box office, while reaching an impressive $970.1 million overseas (via Reuters). In sum, this puts the Friendly Neighbourhood Hero at $1.69 billion.

It's behind Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Avengers: Infinity War, all of which have crossed $2 billion globally.

Spider-Man: No Way Home, the final Marvel movie of 2021, has now generated a total of $1 billion in worldwide box-office sales, as well as the prestigious title of being 2021's top-grossing film. As spotted by IGN, the ending to Tom Holland's Spider-Man trilogy also generated $81.5 million domestically and $121.4 million internationally over the Christmas weekend. This brought the domestic total of the film to $467.3 million and the international total to $587.1 million

Spider-Man: No Way Home now becomes just the 49th film to cross $1 billion at the global box office.

As for other box-office films this past weekend, Sing 2 peaked at second with $23.7 million domestically and followed by The Matrix Resurrections with $12 million. Though the latest installment to the Matrix franchise of films is also available via HBO Max, while No Way Home and Sing 2 are only accessible via theaters.
