Squad Busters is the newest game from Finnish developer Supercell, and like every new game, players strive to become the very best at it. We've got you sorted with a beginner guide, but what's the current Squad Busters meta that'll help you get ahead?
There are a variety of classes and heroes to uncover as you play, and while all of them have their own uses, it goes without saying that there are some heroes that are better than others.
Once you're finished here, head to the rest of our guides for the battle arena game to find out more about which characters go where in our Squad Busters tier list, and whether or not you can use codes in Squad Busters.
Squad Busters Meta Explained
Squad Busters is an arena multiplayer game in which the goal is simple: win by getting the most gems before the timer ends. You can do this by attacking monsters, cutting down trees, and generally minding your own business.
Yet, while Squad Busters is a game in which you don't necessarily need to fight other players to win, there is motivation to do so. Not only will you take that player out of the game, but you'll also get their gems.
Of course, you don't need to be number 1 to be considered a 'winner'. As long as you're in the top 5, you won't lose your winning streak. Your winning streak is particularly important, as it'll change what sort of chest (from its rarity to how many characters inside it) you get at the end of the match.
With all this in mind, you'll want to stand out head and shoulders among the other players by enforcing a strategy that'll either warn others away from trying to bust you at the end of the match or give you more firepower to bust others who try anyway.
Squad Busters Meta - Best Strategy
Overall, the best Squad Busters strategy is to go heavy on the offense, while also making sure you've got a number of suppliers that'll help you rack up coins to open chests, as well as earn gems.
At the start of the game, it's best to choose either an Attacker or Supplier character. For example, a Barbarian is a great starter who can kill monsters that drop coins easily, so you can start opening up more chests faster. On the other hand, choosing a Supplier like a Goblin can give you coins faster, thus opening more chests and recruiting more characters to your squad in a shorter amount of time.
With mid-game, players should focus on evolving and fusing Attacker or Defender characters. While you could fuse Speedsters or Supplier characters, Defender characters, in particular, have almost triple their HP and attack and, as such, are much better in a fight if it comes to it. As usual, slow and steady wins the race here.
By the end game, where players are pushed together to try and get as many gems as possible, there are two options. One, you rush towards the gems while trying to bust as many enemy squads as possible, or two, you continue to fight the tougher monsters scattered around the map and reap the rewards. Both strategies are exemplary to getting in the top 5 spot, but the latter plays it much safer. If you'd rather get as many gems as possible, jump right into the fray.
But remember, if you do not have fused characters, you may sorely regret fighting others that do.
Squad Busters Meta - Best Characters
First and foremost, the best characters will always be from the Attacker and/or Supplier class. This is largely because those in these classes have the opportunity to upgrade and earn characters/gems/coins faster.
However, we've listed a few characters below that stand out among the crowd.
- Witch - She can summon skeletons to fight other monsters, while your other characters, like Greg, can chop down trees and gain supplies.
- Barbarian - An effective melee fighter who also has decent gains in health, especially when fused.
- Greg - The only character who can chop down trees, earning you extra gems and gold.
- Medic - Healing is impossible without supplies/spells, unless you have a healer like Medic.
- Barbarian King - One of the best Defenders in the game, with a beefy amount of HP and damage when fused.
This is all you need to know about the Squad Busters meta. We'll update this guide regularly as the game continues to update and change.
