EA has revealed that despite losing their exclusive Star Wars licence next year, they'll continue partnering with Lucasfilm Games for further projects. As part of this, three new games are being developed by Respawn Entertainment, who previously brought us Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Announced through a new blog post, EA issued this outline on what projects fans can expect:
Upcoming Titles Include the Next Game in the Star Wars Jedi Franchise, a new Star Wars FPS from Peter Hirschmann and a Strategy Game via a Publishing Collaboration Between Respawn and Bit Reactor.
EA Confirm Three New Star Wars Projects In Development At Respawn
We can safely assume one of these is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, previously rumoured to launch in Q4 2022. As for the FPS game, that's believed to be based on The Mandalorian, after leaked gameplay footage emerged back in August last year. Most recently, Hirschmann directed Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond for Respawn in 2020.
Finally, Respawn's third project sees them take on a producing role with development led by Bit Reactor, a new studio formed by XCOM and Civilization veterans. Respawn confirms work has already begun on these games, though we don't know when they'll likely be unveiled. We'll keep you informed with further Star Wars news as it happens.
