Information on State of Decay 3 remains slim following a Kotaku report detailing mismanagement within the Microsoft-owned studio.
The lack of news is certainly worrying but with an Xbox and Bethesda Games showcase taking place on June 12, 2022, there's a chance we may hear more information on what Undead Labs has in store.
Microsoft revealed State Of Decay 3 at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2020, but we've not heard a great deal since. After State of Decay 2 launched with a variety of technical issues, Microsoft's purchase of developer Undead Labs should hopefully give the team the resources they need to polish up this threequel to an impressive level of quality.
Still, the franchise does offer a unique, role-playing experience with perma-death, resource management, and some unwinnable odds, meaning there are sure to be die-hard fans itching for a new apocalypse. We're certainly keen to see more of the game, so here's everything we know about State of Decay 3.
Release Date
Microsoft is yet to reveal the release date for State Of Decay 3, and the COVID-19 pandemic could mean it'll be a while before we hear one, too. According to VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb, a series of games are 'expected to launch in 2023', including (Everwild, Fable, Avowed, and more), but State of Decay 3 isn't mentioned. Could it be arriving sooner, or is it further out than we thought?
Platforms
State Of Decay 3 will be released on the Xbox Series S and X, as well as PC. Unlike other Microsoft exclusives, it sounds though it'll skip the Xbox One generation of consoles.

Price
While State of Decay 2 launched at a reduced price, there's no telling the same will be true of State of Decay 3. In any case, it'll be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, meaning subscribers can download and play at no extra cost.
What Can We Expect?
The cinematic trailer didn't reveal many details about the upcoming title, but it does look like it'll take place in a desolate and rural environment. The trailer shows an infected deer eating the corpse of a wolf, suggesting the outbreak has spread to wildlife as well as what remains of humanity. Furthermore, the trailer's protagonist is seen around a campfire in the woods, suggesting the franchise's core survival elements are likely to continue.
