Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is an action role-playing game that throws you headfirst into fierce battles with numerous different enemies. You play as Jack, a strong-willed warrior who is devoted to finding and destroying Chaos. Alongside your allies, you must find a way to bring back the light of the crystals before it's too late.
As you make your way through the story, you'll encounter various bosses that you'll need to defeat to progress. One such boss is the Black Knight. You will encounter them on your mission to meet the King of the Dark Elves, Astos. This is quite a tricky fight as the Black Knight has their trusty horse to help them deal devastating attacks to your team. Fortunately, there are a few tricks that can make it easy to defeat them.
In this guide, we are going to show you how to beat the Black Knight Boss.
How to Beat the Black Knight Boss
The boss fight with the Black Knight is actually split into two sections (as indicated by the line down the middle of the Knight's health bar at the top of your screen). We're going to take you through each section separately.
Destroy the Horse - Part One
The first thing you need to do is to focus on destroying the horse. The Knight will remain sat on top of their valiant steed throughout the first section of the fight, which can make it extremely difficult to attack them. To destroy the horse, you need to wear down the break gauge so that it's left vulnerable to powerful attacks.
The easiest way to do this is to use several swift attacks (such as Duelist attacks) or to use one large attack (such as a Swordsman or Ronin attack) before dodging away. You must attack, then run away instantly. The Knight will almost always try to attack you in return, so it's a bad idea to hang around after you get in a few hits. Also, when the horse rears back it's time to retreat. This is a huge indicator that they're about to unleash one of their attacks. It's best to dodge to the side as its attacks stretch out in front of it. It's hard to guard against the attacks that the Knight dishes out, so the safest option is to dodge.
When you retreat, use the appropriate command to activate Jed and Ash's resonance state. This way, you are ensuring that you are constantly bombarding the Knight with attacks.
After you have worn down the Knight's break gauge, they will be vulnerable. Run up to them and use the prompted control to use Jack's Soul Burst. After the action sequence ends, the horse will be destroyed, and the Knight will start to attack you on foot.
End The Knight - Part Two
If your health is low, we strongly recommend consuming some potion to replenish it before you start to fight the Knight again. After destroying their horse, they'll become more aggressive in their attacks.
The best way to fight them is to follow a similar pattern to the previous fight, attack them quickly then dodge out of the way before the Knight can get to you. However, the Knight is extremely quick when it comes to attacking you, so be prepared to dodge to the side three or four times in a row. If you have developed it past level 15, then this is a good time to switch to the Lancer Job. This allows you to land several strong and quick attacks on the Knight while you stay at a safe distance.
Also, this may sound counterproductive, but you should get the Knight to attack you while you are far away from them. You can do this by standing still. If it works, the Knight will unleash their Windstorm ability which you can steal by using your Soulshield at the right time. Then, you can use the Windstorm ability against the Knight and this will take a chunk out of their health bar.
Once you wear the Knight's health bar down far enough, they will create clones of themselves then back away from the fight. You need to take them out before you can start to attack the Knight again. Activate Jed and Ash's resonance state (if you can) to make it easier to fight them off. Also, if they engulf you, use your Lightbringer ability to push them away from you again. After you deal with the clones, continue to follow the attack and dodge pattern to fight the Black Knight. If you have it, then use the Venom ability in the final stages of the fight to wear the Knight down.
Eventually, you will deplete the Knight's health enough that they will become extremely vulnerable again. When this happens, swiftly run to the Knight and use Jack's Soul Burst to bring the fight to an end.
