Capcom's confirmed that they're currently working on the next Street Fighter entry after Luke's gameplay reveal. Having supported Street Fighter 5 for the last five years, Luke marks the final DLC character, and they're moving onto the next entry once Season 5's over.
As seen in Luke's gameplay showcase, the developers have confirmed that they're working on the next Street Fighter entry after Luke's introduction. Street Fighter 5 director Takayuki Nakayama and producer Shuhei Matsumoto revealed during this Fall Update that they'll release further details in early 2022.
Capcom Tease Street Fighter 6 Details Next Year
As seen in Capcom Fighter's video, the next Capcom Cup VIII will be held in February 2022. Most fighting game developers often have big new reveals during major tournaments. This event could bring the Street Fighter 6 news we've been waiting for.
Luke's gameplay showcase featured some new interactions for Street Fighter 5. As seen in the trailer, Luke has an offensive answer to throws that's version 2 of his V-Skill, Silencer. Here, Capcom confirmed that Luke's V-Skill was designed as an offensive punish rather a defence option against throws.
Potentially, new options built to counter certain moves could be included in Street Fighter 6 and will be introduced through Luke first. We'll keep you updated when we learn more.
