Sunset Overdrive is back in the news, and this time, it’s a new round of rumors about Sunset Overdrive 2.

Admittedly, the rumors are fairly sparse.

Insomniac director and Sunset Overdrive co-director, Marcus Smith spoke with GQ about Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart recently, and GQ asked whether there was a chance of Sunset Overdrive 2 happening.

“I mean, never say never is my approach,” Smith said. “Obviously, we’re part of Sony now, but we own the IP and so there’s nothing really stopping us other than we have a lot of really exciting things in our future.”

It’s something Smith would like to do as well. When GQ asked if he wanted to continue the series, he said “I think there are a lot of stories that can be told in that universe and I would love to return to it. I had a lot of fun making that game.”

Whether Smith returns for a new Sunset Overdrive game, it seems we might be returning to Sunset Overdrive in a different form.
