The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has fantastic visuals and interesting mechanics that resulted in a generally positive reception from critics and fans. Now that Zelda takes the helm and leads the adventure, Echoes of Wisdom combines the classic Zelda experience with brand-new gameplay that new and old fans of the franchise will love.

Zelda plays differently than Link. Instead of brandishing a sword and shield, Zelda uses the Tri Rod to summon Echoes that will help her throughout her quest to save Hyrule. At times, it may be challenging, especially when Zelda is surrounded by many enemies. Worry not though, we've got you covered from the best newbie practices and great tips in this beginner's guide!

Beginner's Tips

These are our general recommendations for you to best enjoy the early hours of Zelda's latest adventure.

Use the Bed Echo To Recover Hearts Anytime

Thanks to the fairy Tri, Zelda has a myriad of wonderful Echoes that will aid them in their journey. One of these is the Bed Echo, an Echo that is obtained fairly early in the game. Summoning Echoes does not cost anything, except for Tri's energy which only limits how many echoes Zelda can summon at a time.

The Bed Echo only costs one energy, and Zelda can summon it almost anywhere. Resting in a Bed Echo replenishes Zelda's hearts half at a time, so it is great for quick heart restorations during the early game.

Use the Target Button Every Time

Pressing ZL will allow Zelda to target any object or enemy. Most of the time, puzzles in dungeons revolve around the usage of different Echoes, as well as the Bind and Reverse Bond abilities.

Pressing the Target Button will always highlight the nearest object or enemy. If you are stuck solving a puzzle, one of the best ways to find the solution is to press the Target Button.

You Can Stack Octorok Echoes For More Firepower

These classic Zelda enemies make a comeback in Echoes Of Wisdom, and they pack a punch during the early game. If you want to burst enemies from far away, stacking Octorok Echoes is the way to go.

Each Octorok Echo can support another Octorok Echo, so it'll always be two stacked Octoroks at max. Summoning and stacking two more will create a set of cannons that fire at an increased fire rate, as opposed to having each individual Octorok scattered throughout the battlefield.

Use the Crawtula Echo to Scale Almost Every High Place

Obtained fairly early in the game, the Crawtula Echo can scale almost every wall in Hyrule. Summoning it and applying the Reverse Bond ability to it will allow Zelda to be tagged along as the Crawtula climb high walls.

Simply summon the Crawtula Echo at the base of any high wall or tree, quickly target it by pressing ZL, and then press Y to Bind to it. Pressing R while bonded to the Crawtula will use the Reverse Bond ability and it will walk and bring Zelda along as it climbs.

Take Note of the Triangles on Top of Each Echo

Each Echo requires Tri's energy to summon it. While Zelda can summon Echoes almost instantly, there's only a limit to how many echoes she can summon at a time. The number of Echoes that can be summoned in a given time is limited by how many energies Tri has. Mending rifts and finding Tri's friends will increase Tri's energy.

The triangles on top of each Echo determine how much energy is needed to summon it. If it shows two triangles and Tri's has a total of four energy, Zelda can summon two of those Echoes at a time. If Zelda summons an Echo with three triangles, Tri will use three energy and can only summon another Echo that requires one energy. Be sure to manage Tri's energy properly so you can summon all your needed Echoes in a single time.
