Supermassive Games is a studio with a pedigree behind its name. If you've been following them for a while and are wondering "is The Quarry a sequel to Until Dawn?" this is what you should know.
There's quite a lot going on in The Quarry, so you may miss all of what's going on the first time you play it. Though there are some little hints and some thematic similarities, it seems likely that The Quarry is in a world of its own. Here's what we know about it so far.
If you're finally starting to play it for yourself, here's what we know about The Quarry Multiplayer or how the new mechanic, Death Rewind, works
Is the Quarry a Sequel to Until Dawn?
If you're looking for some kind of official confirmation, you won't get it. As far we know right now, The Quarry is a spiritual successor to Until Dawn. This means it is thematically similar, perhaps sharing some references, plot points, or some of the general atmosphere. This being said, it is not officially linked to the game in terms of plot.
Both stories exist as separate stories and experiences, independent of each other. Some things are similar though: a plot that regularly flips who the baddies are, an emphasis on a large cabin as a place of safety, and the need to survive until dawn arrives.
Though the developers could technically reveal that both games exist in the same universe at different times, there is nothing concrete to suggest this is true right now. The plus side of these games not being directly linked like that is you can have the same reading and experience of the game, without having to worry you missed something in previous titles.
If you're currently making your way through the game and you're wondering where you recognise all those voices from, here's what you should know about The Quarry voice actors.
