The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an RPG created and published by CD Projekt Red back in 2015. Despite being a few years old now, players continue to flock to the game due to its replayability, mods, and DLC content. When it comes to additional content, New Game Plus is another game-mode for players to explore. However, The Witcher 3 itself does a poor job of explaining exactly what New Game+ is and how to go about playing it.
In this guide, we've explained everything you need to know about New Game+ in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and how to go about starting it.

What Is The Witcher 3 New Game+
Essentially, New Game+ in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt allows players to restart their game with a few things carried over from their previous game, but at a higher difficulty. Enemies and monsters will be scaled up by an additional 25 levels, and will live-scale as you continue to level up.
Additionally, the levels of dropped items and equipment is also scaled up accordingly, with some gear also being granted a 'Legendary' name, meaning players will need to still upgrade armour to not be overwhelmed by their opponents in New Game+.
When starting New Game+, players will carry over all of their gold and abilities alongside most of their gear. However, players will lose all of the following:
- Quest Items
- Books
- Gwent Cards
- Crafting Diagrams
- All Map Exploration
- Character Entries
- Bestiary Entries
- Trophies
- Alchemy Formulas
This makes New Game+ a form of legendary mode that allows you to keep some rewards for all the hard work done during your first playthrough of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
How To Start The Witcher 3 New Game+
To start your game of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the New Game+ mode, you'll want to do the following:
- Ensure you have the DLC content installed or own the GOTY edition of the game.
- Start The Witcher 3 and load your last save, ensuring that your last save is after the ending of the main story.
- Enter 'Options' and save your game before exiting. This save will be used for your New Game+ adventure.
- From the main menu, select 'New Game' and select your difficulty level as normal. After this, a third option should be available called 'New Game+'. Make sure this is turned 'ON' and then choose the save file from earlier.
Once all of that is done, you'll be able to commence your playthrough of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt again in New Game+ mode, tackling enemies of higher difficulties and acquiring better loot along the way.
That's all there is to know about embarking on your The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt adventure using New Game+. Good luck tackling monsters all over again as Geralt of Rivia, and don't forget to check out the various console commands and mods you can play around with during your game too.
