We've not seen much of Cities: VR since its initial reveal. Confirmed last year for Meta Quest 2, that's being handled by Fast Travel Games, who've built upon Cities: Skylines premise into a new experience. Now, we've learned it'll launch on April 28, 2022.
As mayor, Cities: VR tasks you with creating your own urban metropolis. Using motion controls, you'll handle major aspects of city planning, though Fast Travel calls this a "more intimate and focused city management simulation" than its predecessor. It'll lack features like terrain editing and natural disasters, though Fast Travel advised there'll be post-launch content "over time."
Cities: VR Launches For Meta Quest 2 on April 28
Speaking about this launch further, Erik Odeldahl, creative director of Fast Travel Games, confirmed:
“When we got the opportunity to reimagine Cities: Skylines for VR, we knew we had to jump at the opportunity. We’ve taken heavy inspiration from what the teams at Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive have created over the last seven years. We think that Cities: VR will be a great introduction to this franchise for new players, as well as a compelling new interpretation for Cities: Skylines veterans."
You can find a new gameplay walkthrough above. Cities: VR arrives on Meta Quest 2 on April 28, 2022. There's been no word on whether this will also arrive for PS5 VR, PSVR or PC platforms, though if that changes, we'll keep you updated.
