Cities: Skyline has been a huge success for Colossal Order. Published by Paradox Interactive, it first arrived back in 2015 on PC, offering players a new city-building simulation. Selling six million copies, we've not seen a new expansion since March 2020, but now a VR spinoff's on the way.

Calling this Cities: VR, that's being handled by Fast Travel Games, who previously developed VR games like Apex Construct, The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets and Wraith: The Oblivion - Afterlife. If you're curious to know more, here's everything we know so far.

Cities: VR - Latest News

December 2nd, 2021 -

Upload VR's Winter 2021 Showcase revealed that alongside a Moss: Book II release window, Cities: Skyline is getting a new entry through a VR spinoff, Cities: VR. Opening as the first entry to this presentation, that'll arrive during Spring 2022.

Cities: VR - Gameplay

As mayor, Cities: VR places you in charge of creating your own urban metropolis. Using the Quest's motion controls, you'll be handling every major aspect of city planning from traffic control to pavement locations.

Erik Odeldahl, creative director at Fast Travel Games, also released a short video with alpha-build gameplay. Saying that they're looking to “adapt Cities: Skylines to VR in a way that is both approachable for new players and a new challenge for Cities veterans,” you can find that below:

Presently, Fast Travel Games’ has confirmed that Cities: VR is coming to Meta Quest 2 (formally Oculus Quest 2). There's been no word on whether this will also arrive for PS5 VR, PSVR or PC platforms, though if that changes, we'll keep you updated.

During the initial reveal, Fast Travel Games confirmed that Cities: VR will launch in Spring 2022. We don't have a more detailed timeframe just yet, but once we've got those details, we'll keep you informed.
