If you'd like to know if the Meta Quest 3 could have Bluetooth, then we've got you covered.

Here's what we think on the matter, plus what type of Bluetooth could be utilised on the Quest 3, and what that connectivity would allow you to do.

Will Meta Quest 3 Have Bluetooth?

It may make sense for the Quest 3 to have Bluetooth support in a full capacity, as this could be a key area in which this new generation of headset could improve over the current Quest 2.

The Oculus Quest 2 only had an experimental Bluetooth mode that wasn't all too useful if you wanted to utilise any wireless headphones for instance, so if the Quest 3 includes it, this would certainly be a step in the right direction for the new headset.

What Type Of Bluetooth Could Be Used In The Quest 3?

As things currently stand, the latest generation of Bluetooth is Bluetooth 5.3, which was made available in July 2021. Compared to Bluetooth 5.2, it has brought with it some minor improvements, but hasn't made its way to any devices at the moment.

Therefore, the most recent usable standard is Bluetooth 5.2, which was announced and released in December 2019. This brought with it innovations such as LE Audio which will allow supported devices to have longer battery life, for instance.

By the time the Meta Quest 3 is released, it could be the case that Bluetooth 5.3 is more widespread and therefore it may utilise the standard.

Or, if Bluetooth 5.4 comes along before the headset's release date, then it could even use that if it's adopted quickly.

What Will Bluetooth Connectivity Allow Me To Do With The Quest 3?

In short, native Bluetooth connectivity will expand the list of usable devices with the Quest 3, most notably in the audio department.

Many of the best wireless headphones and gaming headsets available utilise a Bluetooth connection, and as things currently stand, you can't take advantage of that with a Quest headset.

Having Bluetooth will enable users to utilise their current Bluetooth headphones for game audio which is handy if you want to keep any wires to a minimum, especially given you may not need a PC to use the Quest 3 so you can keep your VR gaming experience practically wire-free.

You could also utilise Bluetooth connectivity to pair up any other game controllers with the headset. The Quest 2's experimental mode specifically alluded to this being its dedicated purpose, so it would make sense for this to carry over to the Quest 3.
